Beauval Mayor & Council January 2024 Meeting Part 1
The meeting began with the adoption of the agenda and a review of the previous minutes from the November 2023 meeting.
The first new business was to appoint Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) as the tax assessor for the northern village of Beauval. MNP was appointed to oversee and complete the financial audit for 2024. Public disclosure forms were then signed and witnessed.
Motion was made and passed to accept the resignation of the town administrator as well as remove previous staff from signing authority. This position is now vacant; motion was made and passed to advertise to find a replacement. Motion was made and passed to appoint new signing authority and appoint the acting administrator position to a current staff member.
The next part of the meeting was the maintenance department report. They looked at topics such as chlorine suppliers and the overall water quality. The camera was stopped at this point so the main supervisor could discuss employee performance. This concluded the maintenance department report.
Mayor & council scheduled a meeting to finalize the 2024 budget; as they discussed items to add to the budget, such as capital purchases. Motion was made and passed to acknowledge tax abatement on property taxes, which is an interest relief incentive offered on fully paid tax bills. Motion was made and passed to accept the water treatment plant report.
The next part of the agenda looked at the investment for renewal for the gas tax funds. The amount in redeemable investment is $78,750, with total interest earned of $2291.30 as of December 2023. The annual declaration of the municipal sharing grant was reviewed. The financial statements is to be included once the 2023 audit is completed.
To conclude the first half of the meeting, mayor and council looked at changes to vacation pay, applications for the janitor position, back pay to safe home staff, business permit renewal and acknowledgement of new hires for the recreation department. Meeting went into intermission.
