"Life on Gabriola: Reflections on Health and Well-being," Episodes 7 & 8: "Advice to Our Younger Selves" and "Finding Community"

"I wish I knew then what I know now" goes the old saying," and in part 1 of another double episode of "Life on Gabriola: Reflections on Health and Well-being," various islanders offer some life-lessons to their younger selves.

Then, two recently-arrived Gabriolans, Brian Green and Megan Adam, reflect on "Finding Community," including what drew them to Gabriola, how it's the little things that create connection, and "finding a place that you fit."

🌳 Nature Over City Life: The joys of an immersive experience in the outdoors.
🌱 Overcoming Challenges: A personal story is shared about facing a cancer diagnosis at a young age, making a tough decision for a life-saving transplant, and finding unexpected joy in the form of three children after moving to Gabriola.
🏡 Choosing Gabriola: The decision to move to Gabriola was influenced by factors such as community activism, the island's public transit, called "Gertie," and its humanized and interconnected community.
🎶 Community Engagement: Brian and Megan actively engage in community events, music, meditation, and various activities, contributing to the island's vibrant and connected atmosphere.
🌍 Refuge in Diversity: The importance of intergenerational and experiential diversity is highlighted, emphasizing the significance of finding refuge not only in physical spaces but also in people, ideas, and shared experiences.
