Regenerating Gabriola Island, BC

Life on Gabriola TV was at the Surf Lodge on Oct. 25th for “Regenerating Gabriola,” an event sponsored by Sustainable Gabriola. Part of the “Cascadia Bioregional Activation Tour” organized by Seattle-based Regenerate Cascadia, the presentation featured author and eco-activist Joe Brewer.

In the video, Brewer emphasizes the need for large-scale regeneration efforts to restore the health and vitality of landscapes and ecosystems. He discusses the interconnectedness of the Earth's systems and the importance of working at the bioregional scale. Brewer explains that regenerative work involves understanding the unique geologic, ecological, and cultural histories of a place and using that knowledge to restore ecosystems. He lays out a vision of individual communities, like Gabriola, working in concert world-wide to save the earth.

Thanks to Regenerate Cascadia for permission to use portions of their live feed of the event, and to Steven Earle, Donna Morton and Sustainable Gabriola for helping to bring it to the island.
