Regeneration - General Director Renée Gratton Explains the Station's New Strategic Mission and Plans

Renée Gratton from TVC22 gave a ‘regeneration’ talk, detailing the active measures she is taking to create an innovative broadcasting plan for the longterm to help the community face the many issues that will affect us for some time to come.

Gratton elaborates on the mission statement, the strategies and broad scope of plans for TVC22: “The post-COVID recovery and like many organizations, TVC22 has certainly struggled through that time. Our plan and our strategy is driven around the fact that there are five megatrends globally..shaping our future, and three of those are irreversible shifts, meaning if we wanted to try to reverse them, it would be physically impossible.” 

She says that TVC22 will not be able to recover and thrive after the pandemic without accepting that we need to be more strategic in terms of change management and goal setting.  TVC22's regeneration is oriented to recovery through various means - including financial, community involvement, good community journalism, educational programs, etc.

TVC22 has become part of the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) of Heritage Canada - a project administered by the Canadian Association of Community Television Users and Stations (Cactus). When speaking about the LJI, Gratton explained that the station's will focus on civic-oriented journalism - issues in the Prescott-Russell area.

TVC22 has developed a roadmap until 2030 with strategic plans for programming on sustainable development, on minority languages, community issues, as well as a commitment to the environment, indigenous concerns, and educating residents. Renée and Izabela are working together to make TVC22’s plans for regeneration a reality for all of Eastern Ontario.
