Richmond County's Active Living Strategy and Recreation Plan Nearly Complete
ARICHAT - A busy session of the Committee of the Whole for Richmond Municipal Council included:
2:15 - An update on the formation of Richmond County's new municipal Active Living Strategy and Recreation Plan from one of the two consulting firms involved in its creation. Max Chauvin and Carole Jamieson of REConsulting pledged that their work, in conjunction with Upland Consulting and Design, is nearly complete and that council should have a final draft in their hands early this fall.
20:13 - A pitch from two representatives of the Bras d'Or Lake Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative (CEPI). Director Stan Johnson and associate director Ron Newcombe, proposed that Richmond provide sponsorship funding and on-the-ground presence for a conference about the lake's preservation that is planned for mid-November at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.
46:23 - Deputy Warden and District Five councillor Brent Sampson, who chaired the September 11 meeting, requested council to investigate the use of refrigerator magnets or similar items to help emergency responders determine the immediate needs of county residents who may require on-the-spot specific medical attention but may not be able to communicate these needs to those arriving at their homes to provide care of service.
1:14:33 - A plea from the president of the Isle Madame Garden Club, Claire Doyle, for the municipality to provide regular updates on the presence of the invasive species known as Woodland Angelica on island properties. Richmond CAO Troy MacCulloch pledged to investigate the municipality's options in this regard and contact Doyle with their findings.

They are also on the Seaside cable system along Eastern Cape Breton from New Waterford and Glace Bay to Louisbourg and St Peters, and is now on the Bell Satellite system on Channel 536!
