The Rural Perspective: Mayor Barbra Roden speaks about Council Meeting and Citizen Concerns

This week on "The Rural Perspective" Valley TV journalist chats with the Village of Ashcroft Mayor regarding complaints on odd tasting Ashcroft Water, the report from the Bylaw Officer, impounded dog questions and whether residents can call in their questions during village Council meetings?

Undoubtedly, Council members many of you are aware of threads on Facebook regarding the ‘funky Ashcroft water’. Although it does not seem to be a problem throughout the system, it still seems to be a problem. Through the chair, could the Director of Public Works inform the public if a full flush of all the main water lines and a cleaning of all sediments from the reservoir tanks was conducted before the new water system came on line and that the treated water is not contaminated by pre-existing sediments in the lines and tanks?

2. Reference: Report from Bylaw Enforcement Officer, Minutes of Regular Meeting of Council November 28. 2023
- The bylaw officer mentioned that enforcement was complaint-driven. How many complaints are needed before any action is taken on a particular issue? And does the bylaw officer followup with anyone making a complaint on the progress of the complaint?

pg 16 The Non-Resident Users Fee: Is this fee restricted to registered teams or all users? How will this be enforced if for all users?

pg 20 Dog Fees: Where are dogs impounded?

Pg 21 Cemetery Fees: Why are grave space fees lower than Columbarium space fees, which take up much less space and demand much less attention?

$500 resident grave. $1000 resident niche in Columbarium.

Pg 22 Water Fees: This discussion occurred with the last council. Perhaps, some councillors may want to review the past discussions and public input and these changes should be looked at by the new council.

Also, Why is there proposed an elimination of Bulk Water Sales?
