TVC22's First annual E-WASTE fundraiser

Izabela Daszkiewicz with TVC22 hosted their first annual ‘E-Waste’ drive with Recycle My Electronics at their office location in Rockland. The event was held on the weekend of September 22nd to September 24th, 2023, as a means to raise awareness and funds for TVC22’s mission.

Recycle My Electronics is a part of the Electronic Products Recycling Association – an industry-led, not-for-profit organization that operates regulated recycling programs across Canada. As part of TVC22’s ‘regeneration’ program, sustainability and mindfulness of waste and recycling is tantamount to the success and identity of regeneration. Recycle My Electronics works with businesses and consumers to reduce waste, and in this instance has been a source of reciprocal donation for TVC22. Collection of electronic waste nets the station monetary donations from EPRA and Recycle My Electronics as part of the regeneration initiative.

Recycle My Electronics has been a cornerstone in funding new employees that TVC22 has brought on to improve programming and production quality going forward. The event also hosted an inquiry booth, community yard sale and free apple concessions for everyone.

TVC22 is looking to expand its activism, with this past drive being the impetus. The future looks bright for TVC22 as they pursue ways to connect with the community and brainstorm new opportunities. 2023 has yielded positive results for the efforts of Prescott-Russell’s public access television station. TVC22 is looking to pursue civic stories and engage with the community.

Following the station’s E-Waste initiative, TVC22 is eager to organize its next event to give back to the community.
