"Winter Cities” Conference Debut in Winnipeg: Participants Share Ideas on Enticing Tourists in Winter
Winter can be a challenging time. It is difficult for individuals and can also add many complications when running a municipality or a city. Winter is a significant Canadian experience, so how can we improve it?
This year, Winnipeg hosted the 2023 "Winter Cities – Shake Up" on February 15th,2023, at The Fort Garry Hotel in downtown Winnipeg. This event follows on one In January 2015 in Edmonton, which hosted a unique international Winter Cities Conference inviting people of all disciplines to discuss what makes a thriving winter city attracting tourists as well as their own residents.
This episode features Colin Ferguson, President of Travel Manitoba, who spoke about the importance of the 2023 "Winter Cities – Shake Up" for Winnipeg and its goal to enhance the enjoyment of winter, as we are winter city or, as many call it, "Winterpeg."
In this episode, Sara Stasiuk, President & CEO of The Forks, Winnipeg also talked about the importance of The Forks for Winnipeg city. It is a popular destination for everyone in the winter because it contains various facilities and activities that make the winter season more enjoyable. She added that the facilities are suitable for all groups in society and even newcomers who have the opportunity to adapt and integrate more quickly to Winnipeg.
U-Cultural reporter, Zuher Almusre, interviewed a wide variety of participants with diverse knowledge and backgrounds about making Manitoba a destination for winter fun.
