The Conservative candidate for Thunder Bay Superior North is Joshua Taylor. During his tour of the north shore region he stopped in Schreiber to talk with Kim Krause of the Schreiber Media Centre. During the early polls last week one question kept popping up. Do you vote for the party or the person? All but one of the candidates running in the region are new faces, so it was decided that the purpose of these interviews would be finding out more about the person behind the position. Interestingly there seems to be an increase in the number of women taking on the fight for a seat in Ottawa and of the four candidates interviewed Josh was the only male. 

Joshua Taylor hails from Geraldton, one of the rural communities in the Thunder Bay region. He says he became interested in running for office primarily to address what he feels is the lack of representation in the north. He is also the youngest person to run in the area. He had left Geraldton to attend school in London Ontario and study law but changed course and studied kinesiology. He says the experience of living in a larger centre led him to appreciate the rural north shores of Lake Superior and returned to start a career as an employment councillor with indigenous youth. Starting a new job during the beginnings of a pandemic cause Josh to make a few changes in his life as he noticed what he calls a bit of a breakdown in what a society should be. He is a strong supporter of law and order and feels he has strong principals that make him qualified to be an MP. He thinks that progress for progress sake is unwarranted if not kept in check and that incremental changes are better for society that a complete overhaul. 
Forgiveness and caring are traits he says can help to heal rather than the current method of cancel culture. 

Josh also agrees that housing and health care are two big issues facing Canadians going forward. He also has the opinion that people should take  more responsibility for their own actions and that by being more financially responsible and caring for their health to avoid illness, we would all be better off and could reduce the spending in government. Pharmacare is a topic for discussion but how that will be implemented is still debatable and according to Josh, should work with promoting healthy decisions that decrease the need for more medicines when possible.
