Regent Park Neighbourhood Association Encourages Community Involvement

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the Regent Park Neighbourhood Association (RPNA) hosted an engaging community session to encourage local residents to get involved and consider joining the organization. The meeting, led by Regent Park residents Pavithra Sulanthar, Ismail Afrah, and Walied Khogali, aimed to familiarize attendees with RPNA’s mission, governance structure, and ongoing work in advocacy and community building.

Ismail Afrah provided an in-depth look into RPNA's advocacy history, showcasing the impactful initiatives undertaken in recent years during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized the importance of resident participation, noting that community involvement is essential for strengthening the association's voice and impact. Afrah also highlighted upcoming opportunities for residents to contribute, particularly through the upcoming board elections scheduled for September 25, where new members will be elected to guide RPNA's future direction.

The meeting also covered the RPNA's election process, corporate membership opportunities, and how residents can become more engaged in local governance. Attendees were encouraged to participate in a Q&A session, where they could voice concerns, ask questions, and learn more about the role of the RPNA in addressing community needs.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging residents to sign up as corporate members and take an active role in shaping the future of Regent Park.
