Neepawa’s First Branded Hotel Opens Its Doors

The long-anticipated Best Western hotel in Neepawa officially opened its doors to the public today, marking the culmination of a community-driven project that was first announced in 2022. The opening was commemorated with a small event for staff, investors, and Best Western executives — several of whom joined virtually — and featured the ceremonial ringing of a bell to signal that the hotel was officially open for business.

Victoria Murray, Brand Development Project Manager for Best Western Hotels and Resorts, praised the efforts of those involved, particularly the broad coalition of 46 local investors who helped make the project a reality. She emphasized the unique nature of the venture as a “community-owned” facility and announced that the Neepawa location had received the first perfect score she had ever awarded during a pre-opening inspection.

Local manager Patricia Hall was given the honour of ringing the bell, capping off a project that has been years in the making. While some amenities are still under development — with a pool and waterslide set to open within the next three to six months — the facility is already operational and accepting guests. Phase II of the project is also planned and will introduce a new conference centre to the community, a first for Neepawa.

“It is very rewarding to have 46 different entities have faith in their local community and faith in our board to get this going,” said Murray Parrott, speaking on behalf of the investors.

Adding a local artistic touch, all guest suites and common areas in the hotel are decorated with photographic works by Neepawa-based artist Jodi Baker. A total of 22 prints showcasing local scenery and landmarks are now on display throughout the facility.
