Serving the Children: Kiwanis Club of Neepawa Begins Its Journey

The Kiwanis Club of Neepawa, a new chapter of the international Kiwanis organization dedicated to serving children and supporting community initiatives, officially received its charter on June 20, 2025. The ceremony, presided over by Western District Governor McKenna Coran, marked the formal launch of the service club in Neepawa.

Leading the new chapter is President Angie Weisgerber, who expressed her excitement during the evening’s celebration, which included a Music Bingo Fundraiser that brought residents together for a fun night in support of a meaningful cause.

“We have our Western District Governor, McKenna Coran, here tonight. It’s a special night to have McKenna here to sign our charter, making the official opening of our Kiwanis Club here in Neepawa,” said Weisgerber. “We will sign the charter and accept it from McKenna — and the sky’s the limit for what we can do with Kiwanis. We are very excited.”

Coran also shared her enthusiasm, calling the charter a major milestone for the district. “It is the official charter night of the Kiwanis Club of Neepawa and area. It’s the 34th club in the district, and we haven’t opened a new Kiwanis Club in over five years,” she said.

She emphasized what makes the organization unique. “It is the service club that focuses primarily on children and youth. Everything we do — every dollar raised — goes back into the community to serve the needs of children. That’s what makes it truly special.”

Also in attendance was Jodie Byram, MLA for Agassiz, who praised the efforts of the volunteer board. “It is truly inspiring to see a local organization come to life—especially in a time when many groups are struggling to stay afloat and maintain a strong volunteer base. This speaks volumes about Neepawa’s community spirit and the dedicated group of volunteers who have stepped up to make this initiative a reality.

“I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the board members and to Angie for their hard work. Thank you as well to the youngest Governor for visiting Neepawa and lending your support. I look forward to seeing all the great things the Kiwanis Club will bring to Neepawa—especially in supporting our youth and empowering the next generation. This is a meaningful step forward for our community.”
