COVID-19 - Daily Checkins begin for vulnerable people
Town Clerk Paul Nopper and Councillor Guy Groulx provided an update for the Town of Saint Andrews on how the town is responding to COVID-19 and New Brunswick's declaration of a state of emergency, including the launch of a "Free Home Delivery Program" spearheaded by Guy Groulx and a team of volunteers from the Kiwanis Club of Saint Andrews.
Nopper communicated that the town is taking the lead on implementing a vulnerable citizens list that includes daily check-ins for any residents who fear that they are vulnerable during this period of mandated isolation. The town is also staying in touch with residents who are in mandatory quarantine after returning from travels to ensure they are securely stocked with essentials for two weeks and can maintain quarantine. Nopper also offered advice on hygiene protocol for residents to follow to ensure they stay safe. He also addressed rumours and misinformation circulating in order to maintain a clear, transparent and trustworthy message in the community.
"From what I have been told directly from EMO and Public Health is that there are currently no cases in Charlotte County of COVID-19," said Nopper in response to rumours about cases in the community.
Nopper also encouraged people to call the town with any questions they might have at this time.
"Our home delivery service started two weeks ago when we realized that the town could and should be doing something to help," said Groulx with regards to the home delivery service (of groceries, pharmaceuticals and prescriptions and hardware store essentials) being offered in the town. "The town and the Kiwanis Club have partnered to offer free home delivery service, daily check-ins for vulnerable residents, and registration of check-in for those going into self-isolation after travel."
