Holi in Barrie: Barrie Indian Association's Holi event brings together people of all backgrounds and races
This Sunday, The Barrie Indian Association hosted an event to celebrate Holi, drawing a crowd of 400 enthusiasts, eager to celebrate this age-old festival that marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil.
We captured the essence of joy, unity, and the spectacular play of colours. The event was not just about throwing colours; it was a cultural event that brought together people of all ages and backgrounds to share the joy, food, music, and dance that are synonymous with Holi.
We also had the opportunity to speak with the organizer of the event, Shakir Barmare, who is the president of the Barrie Indian Association. He shared insights into the significance of Holi and the effort to bring a piece of Indian culture to Barrie. Additionally, we caught up with a couple of attendees who shared their experiences of the day, echoing the sentiments of community and celebration.
