You are listening to News & Views out of Radio Regent in the heart of Regent Park Toronto.

We are entering Daylight savings time this week!

In local Regent Park News:
The hosts of News & Views podcast starting things off reporting on an important world event. Every year on March 8th it is International Woman’s Day. The two aired a clip with RPTV’s Kedar Ahmed interviewing the president of Community Innovative Alliances (https://cialliances.com/) Jacqueline Dewire at the World Urban Pavilion Woman’s Day Event in Regent Park. Jacqueline was present to bring woman and the community together to talk about the issues and challenges woman and people are facing. The event was a springboard to continue discussion around strategy, problem solving and equity.

In GTA News:
“Woman life Freedom!” was chanted loudly at the OISE building in Toronto on March 4th for the International Woman’s Day Rally (https://iwdtoronto.ca/). People took to the streets to fight against oppression and gender inequality. The Event hosted a speaker’s corner to record attendees’ thoughts on why we must close the gender gap. Many teachers were also present protesting Bill 124 which directly affects fields in which the majority of workers are woman.

The hosts at Radio Regent commented on the major Moss Park improvements and changes. Sadly, violence continues across the GTA. Near Moss Park a man in his 50’s was stabbed by a small group which makes it the 7th homicide this year. The entire neighbourhood is being squeezed by gentrification yet many housing issues persist.

We will continue to bring you news from the heart of Regent Park through Radio Regent. Thanks for listening.
