Parenting Challenges for Winnipeg's Arab Families -

Raising children is a challenging task for parents anywhere in the world. It can be even more complicated when the family migrates from their home country to another country that differs in language and culture.

Winnipeg's Arab community is finding challenges in bringing up a strong new generation that adheres to its language and culture. With parents preoccupied with work and students not speaking their native language even inside the home, there is concern that fewer Arab children will retain Arabic.

This episode of "Civic Platform" features Noor Jamil, Diploma in Certified Educational Consultant (Childhood Stage). Throughout the episode, our guest emphasized many essential topics and gave several examples of the challenges that Arab parents face in raising their children in Winnipeg. She gave important advice to overcome these challenges - of finding a balance in preserving your culture and language while learning and becoming a part of new cultures and communities.
