A man has been charged following a violent carjacking spree in Regent Park that left one driver seriouslyinjured.

Toronto Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Troy Dennis Ledrew, who has no fixed address. The incident occurred on the evening of November 27, 2024, near Dundas Street East and River Street.Ledrew allegedly approached vehicles stopped at red lights, armed with a loaded handgun. He shot one driver, leaving them hospitalized, and attempted to hijack several cars.

Ledrew managed to steal one vehicle and drove to a parking lot near Lake Shore Boulevard East andCarlaw Avenue. There, he tried to carjack another car but fled on foot. Police from multiple divisions arrested him shortly after, recovering a loaded handgun.

The charges against Ledrew include attempted murder, robbery with a firearm, and aggravated assault.He was also wanted in connection with a carjacking and shooting on Highway 401 in Mississauga a dayearlier.

Police assured residents that the threat has been contained. Ledrew is set to appear at the TorontoRegional Bail Centre.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and share any information with police or Crime Stoppers as investigations continue.
