#RunForUkraine invites members of the public to take part in the charity run and warm up the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The global charity marathon #RunForUkraine unites thousands of people for a common goal - to raise funds for the purchase of warm military shoes and winter socks for Ukrainian defenders. Residents of Winnipeg also joined the initiative of the volunteer organization Second Front UA to prepare the Ukrainian army for the most difficult time of the year.

"I am looking forward to the start. This is a good reason to go for a run and support Ukraine," said marathon participants Denys and Noa.

Neither Saturday morning nor gloomy weather - nothing will stop Ukrainians when it comes to helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Today we got up early and want to take part in the marathon. Help our Armed Forces raise funds for socks and caps. We will warm Ukraine as best we can. Although we came to Canada, we want to support our people. Now we are far from our homes and we hope that we will be able to help and support our boys at least a little", - assure participants of the marathon Galina and Yuliya.

The organizer of the race is the non-profit volunteer organization Second Front UA. Yevgenia, who is part of this team, joined not only the creation of the marathon, but also took a direct part in the race.

"I became the organizer of the marathon in my city of Morden. It rained all day. And we ran in the rain from the very beginning to the very end.

This is a fact that greatly strengthened the belief that we are doing something right, cool, necessary, because the participants were not afraid of the rain and did not want to postpone the time and day of the marathon. If neither rain nor snow can stop our soldiers, our defenders from fighting and defending Ukraine, why can the rain stop us. And it was a fundamental moment for all of us, because we went out and ran, no matter what happened to us. Two children also ran with us. Everyone tried very hard. The impressions are simply great. When we finished, we were wet as mice, but it's a thrill, because you know that you ran for Ukraine," Yevgenia shares.

100% of the funds collected from registration fees and additional contributions will be used to purchase winter military footwear.

"We agreed to buy Berets from a Ukrainian manufacturer. That is, we support the Ukrainian manufacturer and they are cheaper for us. Yes, $60 for registration is equal to one pair of berets. You can't buy shoes for that price in Canada, they would cost twice as much. And we see that our colleagues from the Second Front are also registering. Although they are not runners, they also want to join, support and be active", - adds Yevgenia.

Participants can choose which distance to cover: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km or 42 km, or just walk any other distance. Everyone chooses the day, time, route and place of the race independently. The main thing is not to forget to share your achievements in social networks with the hashtag #RunForUkraine.

Winnipeg runners crossed the finish line with a smile and covered 5 kilometers in just half an hour!
