Nations are proud of their languages, pay great attention to them, and are keen to accurately teach them to future generations. Language is the cultural heritage that preserves peoples' history and achievements throughout the ages.
The Arab community in Winnipeg gathered to celebrate International Arabic Language Day, organized by the Canadian Arab Society in Manitoba.
This "Civic Platform" episode features Fouad Elmazini, President of the Canadian Arab Association of Manitoba (CAAM).
Elmazini talked about the importance of the Arabic language, not only for the Arabs of Winnipeg but for all Arabs, as it is the language of communication, and through it, its heritage of knowledge and of the sciences is transmitted to future generations. Elmazini explained the challenges facing the Arabic language today in Winnipeg and stressed the need to pursue the association's objectives to obtain a building that contains a library and classes for teaching Arabic to children and youth, thus ensuring that the language is handed down to the next generations.
