I am know in many names as: Sisupalan, Narayanan, sisu, sushi, Balan and Kadakavur. I met many students from many parts of the world at the Students Union in Gothenburg in 1968. Among many adorable friends I came very close to a young person whose name was Warren Mcbride. He was from Indianapolis. Ever since I had a great ambition to HITCH HIKE a round trip from New York across the US to SanFrancisco to seattle to the Trans Canadian Highway to St:John or HALIFAX and then back to New York via Massachusetts. Sadly my ambition shattered when I arrived at the western Frontier from US to Canada. At the Border crossing I told the truth to the Canadian Border Guard about my ambition. He refused permission to cross because he said that Hitch Hiking was prohibited on the Trans Canadian Hihghway. I told him that I am a British Citizen and I had no problems to hitch hike from New York to here although some states are prohibited to hitch. The year was August 1969 and I was an employee of the William Burn International Detective Agency at SanFrancisco with a credible testimonial. Due to my immaturity coupled with my Indian background I was unable to challenge the Border Guard.
Now almost 54 years later I am delighted to note there are millions of Indians in Canada and over 7000 Indians in Halifax. They are proudly displaying their multicultural heritage of India. I am also delighted to note there are number of Yoga Institutions throughout Canada. As a well trained Yoga Teacher with lots of experience of teaching Yoga in UK and many Communes in SanFrancisco area, my ambition was to introduce Yoga in many parts of Canada including Halifax which eventually arrived in Halifax.
I hope the people of Halifax will embrace the multicultural heritage from every corner of this globe as a role modal city.
Best wishes to all and warm regards
Sisupalan, Cambridge, UK
