It is Easter in Ashcroft! In todays update, Gareth is dressed up like the Easter bunny to commemorate the holidays. 

The BC Government shared a joint statement today that outlines the current pandemic situation in BC -- 

"We are announcing 40 new cases, for a total of 1,410 cases in British Columbia. Every health region in British Columbia has patients with COVID-19: 629 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 539 are in the Fraser Health region, 84 are in the Island Health region, 132 are in the Interior Health region and 26 are in the Northern Health region.

We are saddened to report five new COVID-19 related deaths, two in the Vancouver Coastal Health region and three in Fraser Health region, for a total of 55 deaths in British Columbia. We offer our condolences to everyone who has lost their loved ones.

There have been no new long-term care outbreaks in the last day. Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health teams continue to provide support to the 20 remaining affected long-term care and assisted-living facilities, which have a combined 242 cases of COVID-19.

To date, 879 people who had tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered and no longer require isolation. Of the total COVID-19 cases, 128 individuals are hospitalized and 65 of those are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation."

Raven called into the show today to talk about Easter in 100 Mile, as well as what is happening with local business in some circumstances staying open, and in others closing their doors. She also talks about the general feeling of things in the area and what some of the hopes are in regards to COVID19.

There is also a group of local leaders that made a support group for Ashcroft and Cache Creek. It is called the Ash-Creek help line. The idea is that if you need deliveries of food and medication, access to the food bank, or clothing, spiritual help or just someone to talk to because you are isolated and alone you can call the helpline for well … help. It is staffed by local citizens and aided by the Ashcroft HUB, the Equality Project, Soup’s On, the Villages of Ashcroft and Cache Creek, the local MLA and MP, Sage Hills Church and St. Alban’s Church.
