Food and Culture at St. Boniface Summer Market

Summer has begun! For many, this summer is the first time in two years that they have had the opportunity to go back and meet each other in person, not from distance. This opportunity has also breathed life back into Manitoban summer markets.

One such market is the St. Boniface Summer Market, organized by the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM).

This episode of "Civic Platform" features Joey Landriot, Employee, Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM).

Landriot tells us about the St. Boniface Summer Market in detail, including duration and operations of the market and the weekly agenda that it offers to its visitors.

Landriot explained the importance of the market to Winnipeg and surrounding communities, especially to newcomers who find a great opportunity to learn about local Canadian industries and how newcomers can find inspiration to start their own business one day in Winnipeg.

This episode also features song and dance showcased at the market, that serves as an entertaining addition in a wonderful atmosphere.

“Civic Platform" interviewed some of the markets participants who spoke about the importance of participation for them and how the market is an opportunity to meet customers directly and to explain their products personally, giving customers a way to participate in the production and development of their products.

Zuher Almusre also interviewed visitors who expressed their happiness in the market and thanked the organizers for adding to them a new destination to visit in the summer.
