Access to Local Products at the South Osborne Farmers' Market
Summer has begun! For many, this summer is the first time in two years that they have had the opportunity to go back and meet each other in person, instead of from distance. This opportunity has also breathed life back into Manitoban summer markets .One such market is the South Osborne Farmer’s Market, organized by Fireweed Food Coop, Winnipeg.
This episode of "Civic Platform" features Karen Patterson, Assistant Market Coordinator, South Osborne Farmers’ Market.
Patterson tells us about the South Osborne Farmer’s Market in detail, including duration and operations of the market and the weekly agenda that it offers to its visitors.
Patterson also explained the importance of markets and the South Osborne Farmer’s Market in particular to Winnipeg and surrounding communities, especially to newcomers who find them a great opportunity to learn about local Canadian industries. This can also give newcomers inspiration to start their own small business one day in Winnipeg like those at the market.
This episode also features song and dance as showcased at the market, that serves as an entertaining addition in a wonderful atmosphere.
“Civic Platform" interviewed some of the markets participants who spoke about the importance of participation for them and how the market is an opportunity to meet customers directly and to explain their products personally, giving customers a way to participate in the production and development of their products.
