Winnipeg's Brazilian Newcomers, Established Residents and Entrepreneurs Gather for Afternoon Tea
Over the years, Winnipeg has seen continued growth in the Brazilian community.
Many Brazilian newcomers and entrepreneurs have chosen Winnipeg to live and settle. That is why the Brazilian Association in Winnipeg - BRASIW works to establish gatherings regularly for the Brazilian community to build a strong network of relationships that introduces newcomers to new friends and opens the way for entrepreneurs to display their businesses in Winnipeg. The last of these gatherings was on Sunday, February 26, 2023, titled "Brazilian Afternoon Tea Party," to gather the Brazilian community to talk and spend enjoyable times with tunes of Brazilian music.
This "Civic Platform" episode features Maggie Demarchi, President of BRASIW, who said, "Today we gather the Brazilian community with the aim of breaking the ice, introducing the members of the Brazilian community in Winnipeg to the newcomers, and presenting some of the entrepreneurs' work so (that newcomers can learn) to take their first step to start their business in Winnipeg. "
Maggie said it is not easy to start a new life in a city you do not know and do not speak the language. Through these gatherings, you can start with small conversations in which you can understand the experiences of others and listen to their advice, as they have previously gone through the same experiences and have good knowledge to provide assistance.
In this episode too, journalist Zuher Almusre talked with Brazilian entrepreneurs and talked about the challenges they faced at the beginning and how they were able to overcome them as they look forward to developing their businesses to help the city economically and be able to open multiple opportunities for new jobs in Winnipeg.
