Ashcroft Council Meeting September 14th 2020

The Ashcroft council had three delegations to start things off -- one by Vicky Trill, talking about the Ashcroft HUB, and asking for a letter of support for new grant opportunities coming in the future. Martina Duncan was there on behalf of the St.Albans Soups on Ministry, asking for maximum amount of $500 grant in aid. She spoke about what Soup's on has accomplished since the start of COVID-19. The ministry changed their way of handing out food from an indoors setting to outdoors, which was easier due to warmer weather, and how they have moved on from making soup and food for the people that need it , to handing our vouchers for that also help local restaurants. Each voucher is valued at $10 and Soup's on has been handing out between 30 and 40 vouchers per week., which costs the Church $300-$400 dollars. However the benefit of helping the people of need and doubling to help the restaurants is a good thing in Martina's point of view. The $500 grant in aid was approved later during the meeting.

Santo Talarico stood on behalf of the Landuche family who are in the midst of setting up a property on Government St. in Ashcroft for housing. He was asking for certain fees to be waived and to have a culvert and drainage study be done as quickly as possible. The Ashcroft Village took a stance of the village will have the study done, with the aid of a grant, and if that grant doesn't cover the full cost of the study the remaining amount would be spread out between all of the appropriate parties. The Village took Mr. Talaricos suggestions under advisement and said that they would talk about it during the new business portion of the Meeting. Ultimately the Village said they will follow the rules and guidelines of the study, but will ask if a time frame could be pushed up, but stood firm of the dispersal of still owed funds.

The last main topic of discussion revolved around signs on peoples properties and businesses. How big signs can be, what can they say, can they be lit signs etc. Past this talking point the meeting becomes a little simpler, with everything that needed to be passed, passed without opposition.
