Coming Soon: Shop Metis holds Fundraising event for Kooshkopayiw; An All-Candidates Meeting for the PCMNO election and more

Region 7 has a month of April filled with events for community members to attend including an event to raise funds for the Metis Arts Council, an art crawl, a drum workshop and the all candidates meeting for the PCMNO election.

Shop Metis, Canada’s leading Metis business amplifier, will be holding an event at the Midland Cultural Centre on April 11th  at 5:30pm to raise funds for the Kooshkopayiw Metis Arts Council. The event will consist of a performance from Metis fiddle champion Alex Kusturok, a pop-up artisan market, art exhibit and food provided by a Metis caterer. Tickets for the event are $80 and all proceeds will be going to the Metis Arts Council and their efforts to support Metis artists in Ontario. There are also sponsorship packages available for purchase for local businesses and community members to sponsor the event. If you would like to purchase a sponsorship package, contact Paul Robitaille at paul@metisadvisors.ca.

On April 14, Metis citizens are invited to an all candidates meeting for the PCMNO election being held by the Barrie South Simcoe Metis Council. The event will take place at the Lion’s Club in Innisfil from 2pm to 4pm. Citizens will be able to ask candidates questions and have their voices heard. President of the Metis Nation of Ontario Margaret Froh will also be in attendance for Metis citizens and she will provide an update on MNO activities.

Residents of the Barrie South Simcoe Metis Council are invited to sign up for a drum making workshop being held April 21st and 28th from 9am to 1pm at the council’s office. Spaces are limited so citizens are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
