New Brunswick introduces less restrictive COVID-19 phases of recovery
Premier Blaine Higgs and Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health for New Brunswick, briefed reporters on Tuesday. The briefing introduced New Brunswickers to the latest phase of COVID-19 recovery for the entire province: the yellow phase. The yellow phase of recovery is the final phase before entering the green phase, which will only take place when when a vaccine becomes available or when health officials feel the virus is totally under control.
"I suggest we all make yellow our new favourite colour," said Dr. Russell, aptly wearing a yellow blazer as she detailed what this phase will mean for New Brunswickers.
"We never again want to have to shut down our province like we had to this past spring," said Premier Higgs, addressing the impact the past restrictions have had on New Brunswickers' social well being as well as the economy. "I understand that people have concerns as restrictions are eased and life returns to a new normal, but it is imperative that we resume our lives and get back to work and restart schools. We need to continue to support local businesses and strengthen our economy."
