On today's show the hosts, spoke about the success of the annual Toronto Black Film Festival (https://torontoblackfilm.com/) and how it brings a voice to diverse leading actors. It is a great opportunity to see movies and hear stories that aren't normally told.

Speaking of having a voice, it was noted that Canadian singer July Black changed the national anthem lyric from "O Canada! Our home and native land!" to "O Canada! Our home on native land. She wanted to bring to our attention that we are living on Indigenous land and that we don’t own it.

On the topic of Indigenous issues, the Royal Ontario Museum has begun returning artifacts to Indigenous families to whom they belong. After 138 years in non-Indigenous possession, Chief Poundmaker's items have been returned to his family.

In another thread the hosts raised the issue of police constables on the TTC and wondered about the efficacy of posting 80 Toronto Police Service officers to quell the  concerns of TTC patrons, and the public in general, over the increase in violence on the TTC. TPS noted that numbers were down during period.
Interim Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie is focusing on "Good governance" and giving everyone in Toronto a voice.

Rounding this off the hosts of News & Views reported on how Toronto Fire was able to rescue two pet pythons, a dog, and a cat from a second-floor Regent Park apartment near Dundas and Sackville. Ryan informed the listeners about the importance of making sure your alarms are up to date.
