SDP Planning Committee Meeting Discusses Zoom Storage of Meetings and More - 23 March 2023
Dawar Naeem is a Community Journalist with RPTV.
The Regent Park Social Development Plan, also known as the SDP, is a community wide initiative aims to create social inclusion and cohesion among all the different residents and stakeholder groups in the community.
The Social Development Plan is made up of four areas of priorities of the SDP. Each priority area is represented by a different working group. The SDP Working Groups are Safety, Communications, Employment and Economic Development and Community Building.
In addition to the four committees, there is a SDP Planning Committee that meets weekly to help guide the activities of the SDP. This meeting was facilitated by Joel Klassen from the Yonge Street Missdion
In this meeting, the SDP Planning Committee discussed the issue of limited data storage, which the SDP working groups have been facing for some time now.
All meetings are recorded and are shared with the community via RPTV(Regent Park TV). The SDP is running out of storage, so this issue was discussed in the meeting. There was a long discussion about whether the SDP should record meetings for archival purposes and for the purpose of sharing with the larger community. The cost associated with data storage and management were also a matter of concern during the discussion.
The Planning Committee further discussed the $50,000 funds provided by the City for the Social Development plan of Regent Park. City Staff Daniella Castello and Richard Kirwan were at the meeting to further enlighten the Committee about the nature and purpose of the funds.
