**Public Meeting Reveals Concerns Over Proposed Wasaga Beach Subdivision Development**

At a recent public meeting held by Wasaga Beach City Council, staff presented a proposed development plan for a new subdivision that would introduce 42 semi-detached dwellings, 322 townhouse/back-to-back dwelling units, and two six-storey apartment buildings with 146 units.

In addition to the housing units, the proposal includes plans for a public park and private recreational facilities, such as a pickleball court, aiming to enhance the community's amenities.

While the council's primary role was to ask questions about the proposed development, local citizens also attended the meeting to voice their concerns about the impact this new subdivision might have on their community.

The land slated for development is currently a picturesque woodland area, and many residents are saddened by the prospect of losing this natural landscape. One resident, who lives across from the proposed site, expressed their disappointment, stating, "The development would change the look of the land for sure."

Another resident voiced concerns about how the subdivision would alter the character of the neighbourhood. "The proposed plan significantly alters the community, and nowhere in the immediate area is this application consistent with the location and character that we reside in," they remarked.

Additional concerns were raised about the potential disruption caused by the construction process. With 510 units planned, some residents fear the lengthy construction period could bring significant challenges to their daily lives. "510 units take quite a long time to build. What are the implications with parking and the implications with construction itself?" a concerned resident asked.

Another resident added, "With all the construction, do I have to keep my windows closed so all the dirt and dust doesn’t come in?"

While it appears that the development is likely to proceed, the citizens of Wasaga Beach are left wondering how their concerns will be addressed by the council and developers as the project moves forward.
