Justin Trudeau himself says that a snap election is likely in 2021. 

“Obviously, we are in a minority government, and that could well happen,” he told a Montreal-based radio station last month. “Our priority as a government is going to be helping people get through this pandemic ... it’s not in our interests to have an election."

But with a vaccine rollout under fire and millions of Canadians hurting financially, Canada's political parties are setting up for a busy spring. 

And while 2015 saw 57 per cent of eligible voters aged 18-24 vote in the federal election, the voting power of this young demographic hasn't made much change in the Barrie area --  largely the realm of conservatives for decades. 

Future Majority wants to help youth in our area make their voices heard -- and help them ensure their concerns, values and more are reflected in who gets elected. 

That means they're hiring two volunteer riding co-directors -- youth who will spearhead the campaing to get out the vote ahead of a snap election.

"Future Majority emphasizes that young people are the country’s largest voting bloc, which
means they can have political power if they get organized and take collective action to tell
politicians what their priorities are. As Future Majority continues to grow and build youth power
across the country, the organization is expanding into Barrie- Springwater- Oro Medonte, so that when the election is called, young people in the area will be ready. Issues like climate change, economic uncertainty, racial justice, affordable education, and access to mental healthcare have only been exacerbated by this global pandemic."
