Today 44 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. In total there are 671 cases in Vancouver health area, 623 in Fraser health area, 92 in the Vancouver Island Health Area, 146 in the Interior Health Area and 30 in the Northern Health Area.

Five new cases were confirmed in the interior, three of which were confirmed in the Kelowna nursery cluster while the other two remain ambiguous in regards to an exact location. The first death in the Interior Health Region has been confirmed -- a man in his sixties was the unfortunate victim of COVID-19. Of all of these numbers there are 131 patients in hospitals with 59 in the ICU. Doctor Bonnie Henry ensured that it is safe to call an ambulance or visit the hospital if you require their services. Many have avoided hospital visits due to fear of catching COVID-19.

RCMP are now investigating a fire that took place in Cache Creek during the early morning hours on April 15th on stage road. A house that was condemned during the Cache Creek flood was subject to a fire that destroyed the whole building along with a large shed and a neighboring home.  The owners of the building adjacent to the abandoned building own a local pizza place called “Annie's Pizza”. They tragically lost a family dog in the fire. It is theorized that the fire originated from the shed on the condemned houses property where a suspected squatter had made their home.

If an individual had a surgery booked that was not vital, the date that you will be allowed to have the surgery is still undetermined. However if the surgery was vital it will continue as originally planned. Also, the Ashcroft drug store is implementing a non-contact pick up service. You can order online and every Friday your order will be delivered to you safely by drug store staff. The food bank as well as the equality project have made efforts to feed those in the community who are going through a monetary crisis. The equality project serves hot meals on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays between the hours of eleven and one.
