2 Rivers Remix Weekend’s A Festival Success
After the 2021 Lytton Fire consumed our host community of Tl'kemtsin/Lytton, many people thought that the 2 Rivers Remix (2RMX) – the 2RMX Feast would not live on. However, our community has risen from the ashes and we are stronger than ever.
This year, 2RMX 2022 went live with over 40 stellar Indigenous artists from Canada and the US and New Zealand. The traditional Indigenous music and dance festival will be held in Tl’kemtsin, St’uxwtews and Virtual Space. In addition to featuring incredible musical performances by local First Nations artists, there will be workshops and demonstrations by Indigenous artists from across North America.
After putting on several ‘Moveable Feasts’ in places like Lytton and T’Kumleps, the Two Rivers Remix big weekend finale took place in Bonaparte on July 8-10th. Mainly featured were indigenous singers, dancers, rappers, international acts, hand poke tattoo artists and more who were all focused on making the festival a community event. This big show in Bonaparte had many musical artists such as Melawmen Collective, Geo Aka the Voice, Curtis Clearsky and New Zealand’s Rita Peihopa. All who attended were satisfied and look forward to next years events.
‘Q’əmcín 2 Rivers Remix is a free outdoor feast of contemporary Indigenous music and culture at ‘Q’əmcín (aka Lytton) on Nlaka’pamux territory.ndigenous-driven initiative that celebrates First Nations culture through music, dance and art. It has become a staple event for many locals in the region since its inception. The event also feature's BC Indigenous musicians creating an exciting new grassroots sound that empowers Indigenous people.
In addition to providing a platform for some of Canada's most talented artists and performers, 2RMX also serves as a Indigenous market for vendors selling local goods and services.
