Lace Up to End Diabetes is Helping Change the Course For Diabetes Patients in Winnipeg
Diabetes is one of the most dangerous diseases in the world. Its treatment is still under intense research and study, with researchers developing treatments to make our world less affected by this disease that affects individuals of all ages and walks of life. Lace Up to End Diabetes is one of the initiatives held in Winnipeg by Diabetes Canada that aims to raise funds to contribute to the development of research and treatment of Diabetes patients.
This episode of "Civic Platform" features Kelly Lambkin, Senior Manager, Community Fundraising and Events (Prairies), Diabetes Canada.
Lambkin tells us about the history of Diabetes Canada and the program's goals in helping diabetes patients in Winnipeg to get access to the best and latest treatments for their disease. Lambkin also spoke on the challenges facing people with diabetes and their families. She stressed the need for concerted efforts and assistance from everyone, as every dollar makes a difference because diabetes is a disease that may affect all family members, whether through heredity or unhealthy habits that negatively affect people.
Also in this episode is Amy Peters, Coordinator, Community Fundraising and Events SK/MB, Diabetes Canada. Peters tells us how to participate in the Lace Up to End Diabetes through the organization's website and explains the necessity of daily physical activity that makes the body more vibrant and active.
