In this episode of "Civic Platform" with U-Multicultural journalist  Zuher Musre, the January 7th Sports Day for children was covered. Sports Manitoba, which promotes sports for health and fitness for children, put the program on at Sports Manitoba's Centre in downtown Winnipeg.

Children had an opportunity to learn and play a lot of types of sports including indoor bowling, fencing, racquet ball, basket ball, baseball and many more. They also could get information about various sports clubs and organizations that they could join.

Evan Andrew, Director of Brand and Revenue for Sports Manitoba talked about the importance of this day, which is an annual event. He explained how it helps families determine their children's desires and sports inclinations. Andrew stressed the importance of the participation of newly arrived families in Canada in this open day to get acquainted with the facilities of the city and to find new activities or activities that they played in their home countries. This helps speeds up stability and rapid integration in Winnipeg for new immigrants.

Andrew explained how sports involvement helps children to build a healthy foundation for life. It also provides them an opportunity to learn to cooperate and to met friends. Sports also has a positive effect on children's psychological and mental health.

Zuher Almusre also speaks with participating organizations who expressed their happiness in being among children and families and their role in promoting local sports.
