ARICHAT - The new Liberal MP for the riding of Cape Breton-Canso isn't letting the size of his riding keep him from connecting to his constituents or representing their concerns in his new positions on two House of Commons Standing Committees. 

In Ocotober, Kelloway won the seat previously occupied by fellow Liberal Rodger Cuzner for the past 19 years. Since that time, he has been exploring several innovative methods to navigate the constituency, which includes the entirety of Inverness and Richmond Counties, a wide swath of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, the towns of Port Hawkesbury and Mulgrave, and the grand majority of both Guysborough and Antigonish Counties on the mainland side of the Canso Causeway. 

In Arichat for a sit-down interview with TELILE 24/7 host Adam Cooke, Kelloway noted that he had already enjoyed several "mobile constituency office" days in the community and is grateful for the opportunities this has already provided him to meet with local residents. 

"We thought we would do two months of mobile offices to see if it's working, if we need to re-evaluate it, does it need to be done better, whatever the case may be," Kelloway recalled. 

"And what we can say right now is that the mobile offices have been a huge success - in terms of the numbers, in terms of the number of visitors, and the fact that the people have been saying, 'You are here, you do care.'"

Kelloway is also optimistic about his increasingly-busy workload as an MP. Earlier in February he was appointed to the House of Commons Standing Committees on Health and Justice - he noted that "we're knee-deep in the Health Committee now, because of the coronavirus" - and he has just spoken with Port Hawkesbury autism activist Taylor Linloff to gauge her thoughts on the development of a national autism strategy.
