With the online series "Learning with Syeyutsus" now in its fourth season, Life on Gabriola TV asked the island's Lisa Webster to choose some of her favourite past episodes for re-posting here, with Lisa providing an introduction to each one.

"Learning with Syeyutsus" is a project of the Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools district, in collaboration with UBC Press and the Vancouver Island Regional Library. The project's Facebook page defines "Syeyutsus" (See-YA-yut-sus) as "a Hul’q’umi’num expression for 'walking together': living and honouring the teachings of the land and first peoples, while navigating the ever changing complexities of today’s world and society." The series was created in response to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

Each episode features an author or thought leader speaking on topics intended to "spark ideas for further exploration and deeper learning on your own." In the Jan., 2021 episode re-visited here, Jo-ann Q’um Q’um Xiiem Archibald, a member of the Stó:lō Nation and also a Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia, discusses "Indigenous Storywork in Practice." Webster, who is of Mohawk/Deleware/Scottish descent, says in her introduction that the episode "gives you a different framework to begin to listen to what Indigenous communities, what First Nations want to tell you. What they want you to know about them."
