Pro-Palestine Activists Push for an End to the Siege on Gaza

Pro-Palestine activists gathered to demand an immediate ceasefire, and end to the siege of Gaza and enough humanitarian aid to be let into Gaza to aid the population experiencing devastating rates of famine.

Activists continue to push for Canada to impose an arms embargo on Israel. They say these weapons make Canada complicit in the killing of Palestinians, as they say, they can be used in Israel’s bombardment of Palestinians in Gaza and shooting and surveillance of Palestinians in both the West Bank and Gaza.

Protesters marched from “The Ring” monument in downtown Montreal to the Israeli consulate in Westmount.

This day marked 149 days of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, which began after the Oct. 7 Al Aqsa flood.

Israel says their war is on Hamas, but civilians and frontline workers are disproportionately represented in the casualties.

More than 30 thousand Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7. Since Oct. 7, more than 1,200 people have been killed in Israel.

Gazans are not only being bombed but are experiencing famine, as Israel has limited aid that can get into the besieged strip.

As of March 14, 2024, the Committee to Protect Journalists’s preliminary investigations identified that at least 95 journalists and media workers have been killed since Oct. 7

While Gaza is being bombed, violence is increasing in the West Bank. Arrests of Palestinians by the Israeli military have increased.

Some Palestinian prisoners who were freed in the Israel-Hamas hostage exchange have been re-arrested.

Palestinian activists say they are not prisoners, but hostages in Israeli prisons, as numerous hostages have not been given a trial of proper justice, held indefinitely by Israel.
