During the regular monthly meeting of Richmond Municipal Council in Arichat on May 27, several items were discussed.

At the start of the meeting, the council approved recommendations from its committee of the whole meeting on May 13, including funding for the St. Peter's and District Fire Department for the installation of a dry hydrant in River Bourgeois, as well as funding for the Richmond River Roots Market Garden Society.

After approving recommendations from the committee of the whole, the council then reviewed correspondence from l'Adiminstration Portuaire de Petit de Grat asking for $20,000 in municipal funding towards a recreation project at the wharf in Petit de Grat.

In another piece of correspondence, the municipality's Director of Community Development and Recreation, Shannon Mury, informed council of the costs of conducting more public consultations surrounding a proposed multi-use facility in Richmond County. There was no motion to proceed with the almost $10,000 in funding to engage the public in another round of consultations.

Among the items added to the agenda, Warden Amanda Mombourquette updated progress on a joint meeting with officials and councillors from the Town of Port Hawkesbury to discuss some shared services and priorities. This item has been on the agenda for councils in Richmond County and Port Hawkesbury for months.

Another item added to the agenda was from Rachelle Samson of Lennox Place Limited, who asked the council to send a letter of support to the Canada Mortage and Housing Corporation and waive permit fees for their proposal to convert a building at 818 Veterans Memorial Drive in Arichat to a seven-unit apartment complex.
