Fire Safety Awareness: Neepawa Settlement Hosts Informative Session for Newcomer Families
Fire Chief Yves Guilles recently hosted an informative fire safety session for newcomer parents and children, organized by the Neepawa Settlement. The session, aimed at equipping families with the knowledge needed to stay safe in their homes, focused on essential fire safety measures and what to do in the event of a fire.
Chief Guilles covered a range of important topics, including how to properly secure a home against fire hazards, the necessity of smoke alarms, and the importance of creating a fire escape plan. He emphasized that families should have clear, practiced plans to evacuate their homes in case of an emergency.
The session also provided valuable tips for parents on how to talk to their children about fire safety, ensuring that everyone in the household is prepared and knows what to do in the event of an emergency. This initiative helped foster a sense of community while ensuring that essential safety knowledge was shared with those who might not be familiar with local fire prevention practices.
Such initiatives are a vital part of keeping our communities safe, and the Neepawa Settlement continues to play an important role in supporting newcomers and helping them integrate into their new environment.
