Fred Soofi: A Legacy of Community, Culture, and Leadership
Fred Soofi, a notable figure in the Tri-Cities area, was recently interviewed by Cathy Cena on Tri-Cities Community TV. Fred Soofi is a distinguished entrepreneur and community leader based in Port Moody, British Columbia.

Immigrating from Iran in 1972, he established himself in the Canadian restaurant industry, notably founding Pasta Polo, a well-regarded Italian restaurant in Coquitlam. Beyond his business ventures, Soofi is deeply committed to community service. He has been an active member of Amnesty International for over 45 years, advocating for human rights and the release of prisoners of conscience.
His dedication to public service has been recognized through several honors, including the Medal of Good Citizenship awarded by the British Columbia government in 2022. In addition to his humanitarian efforts, Soofi has played a pivotal role in supporting local arts and culture. He has been involved in initiatives such as the Port Moody Station Museum's food truck project, aimed at funding museum programs and enhancing community engagement.
His contributions to the arts were further acknowledged with the King Charles III Coronation Medal, celebrating his outstanding service to the community. Soofi's enduring commitment to fostering community well-being and cultural enrichment continues to leave a lasting impact on the Tri-Cities area and beyond. Soofi believes in more visable arts in the City of the Arts - Port Moody as well as affordable spaces for artists. Tri Cities Community TV is a group of volunteers in the region who are looking to support community video media and independant community news stories and sources.
