Co-anchors Nathalie Sturgeon and Vicki Hogarth guided viewers through the day’s events, highlighting the region’s ongoing cross-border connections.

Thousands gathered on Water Street, where festivities spanned parades, music, and family activities. “There were a lot of both Canadians and Americans in town for Canada Day,” said Hogarth. Drone footage broadcast during the episode showed a dense crowd stretching along the waterfront. “The drone footage really puts it in perspective how many people come to town… not just from around New Brunswick, but from across the border, from other provinces,” added Hogarth.

The program featured Sergeant Scott MacKenzie of the St. Stephen RCMP, who marked his 32nd and final Canada Day parade. MacKenzie has been a consistent presence in the community. “It was important for me to be connected to the community,” he told CHCO-TV, emphasizing his role beyond law enforcement. Sturgeon noted, “It shows you the connection that the police here have with this community.”

This Week Uncut also covered events on Campobello Island, where the Friendship Trail at Roosevelt Campobello International Park officially opened. John Southern, the park’s executive director, described the project as “an ambitious project… to ensure that the most stringent environmental standards were adhered to.” The trail offers access to previously unreachable parts of the island.

Anne Roosevelt, granddaughter of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Chair of the park's Commission, attended the ribbon-tying ceremony and said, “I think he [FDR] would be delighted to be here at this celebration, surrounded by people from all three nations represented at the ceremony today.”

The event emphasized the ongoing cooperation between Canada, the United States, and Indigenous people in the region. Southern said, “Our mission here at the park has always been one of friendship, unity, and mutual respect, regardless of backgrounds, national origin, beliefs, et cetera.”

The broadcast framed Canada Day as a moment of celebration and community cohesion, reflecting both cultural heritage and future collaboration across borders.
