Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory 2020-21 Holiday Message!
Ogimaa Duke Peltier and Naandwechige-Gamig Wikwemikong Health Services Director Mary Jo Wabano livestreamed their 2020-21 holiday greetings on Monday, December 21, 2020.
As well as wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season, Ogimaa and Mary Jo would like to congratulate the community for keeping their due diligence in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in Wiikwemkoong, and congratulate all the staff and departments for doing a great job so far. They would also remind everyone to take care of their emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental health balanced during this season, as we still try to social distance and get ready for yet another lockdown.
Gimaa would also like to remind people to slow down while driving around the community, as there are many elders and children using the roads as well. He also reminds us that many departments will be understaffed the next couple weeks, as people are off for Christmas Holiday, so community members will have to keep this in mind and be patient the next couple weeks.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, and from FirstTelTV5. Naahaaw, miigwetch!
