The City of Montreal Wants to Improve Housing and Green Spaces
What happened in the City of Montreal’s executive committee?
A state of emergency was renewed for the 13th time in Montreal for a 5 days period due to required actions in regards to COVID-19.
The commission on urban and economic development and housing will hold a public consultation on the project of certification of responsible landlords and rent register, which was apart of Projet Montreal’s promises in their most recent re-election campaign.
The Commission on Social Development and Montreal diversity and the commission de la securite publique will hold a joint public discussion on accountability following the release of 38 recommendations by the office de consultation publique de Montreal on racism and systemic discriminations in Montreal.
Valerie Plante announced that housing is important for the city, so here is what they have done and what they plan on completing.
La bonification du programme d'appui a l'acquisition residentielle aims to support family and people coming to Montreal in the current market. This is a new preemptive right to create and make affordable housing. The city has committed to create 60 thousand affordable housing units within 10 years. Plante said in the next couple of years the project of certification of responsible landlords to protect tenants will be released. She also said more green spaces will be made in the East of Montreal, which is a priority, since there is a lack of green spaces.
The current administration expands the protection of two important green spaces in the East of Montreal, including parc du boisee jean-milot and metropolitain anjou golf club.
