Following the provincial elections and Coalition Avenir Quebec party's re-election to majority government, the City of Montreal hosted another executive committee council meeting to discuss the city's upcoming operations and decisions.

Congratulating the CAQ on its achievement, Mayor Valérie Plante also highlighted the record number of women having been elected, but primarily, the election of Kateri Champagne Jourdain to the Quebec National Assembly. Jourdain is the first Indigenous and Innu woman to be voted in, making it a historical event for the province.

Plante mentioned meeting with Coalition Avenir Quebec's leader François Legault to share the expectations and demands of Montrealers, and what they wish to see happen in the next four years.

The City of Montreal aims to become a leader in the ecological transition and the adaptation to climate change. In its latest climate justice plan, Montreal revealed its goals, which include reducing greenhouse gas emissions of 55% before 2030 and being completely carbon neutral by 2050. In its fight against the climate crisis, Plante also included public transportation as a priority to the citizens and the city. The opening of the REM transit system is schedule for Spring 2023, while the extension of the blue line has been estimated for 2029.

Other objectives prioritized by the Plante Administration in its collaboration with the CAQ involved access to affordable, sanitary and safe housing for all Montrealers. From rent hikes to infestations, many Montrealers have difficulty accessing housing in the city, leading to many facing houselessness.

Mayor Valérie Plante reinstated that the City of Montreal is ready and will continue to work on issues important to Montrealers, and set an example as the metropolis.
