During their latest council meeting, the Plante Administration officials discussed their newest plan to revitalize the Bridge-Bonaventure sector.

Robert Beaudry, city councillor of Ville-Marie and an executive committee member, launched the presentation by putting emphasis on how the area is a historic industrial and port zone, which with its revitalization, could help the Montreal community to a great extent. The sector could become a mixed-use community.

Beaudry, first explained the challenges that would need to be faced for the sector to become such a community. The Bridge-Bonaventure sector is one where there is a lot of traffic congestion, as well as a lack of public transportation, a lack of sidewalks and many vacant lots. Those challenges make the possibility of people cohabiting in this sector an issue, that the city of Montreal intends on fixing. 

To do this, the Plante administration intends on working on three major points: consolidating the economic vocations of the territory while introducing mixed and dense residential development that meets and works with the needs of Montrealers, securing the industrial zoning, and providing for a gradation of uses and buffer zones around the industrial activity zones. 

They hope that such steps will lead to a transformation of the area that will help triple the number of jobs, help create new housing, improve public transportation (use of the REM, more buses, the creation of bike lanes), and the creation of new public green spaces.

The city of Montreal intends for the Bridge-Bonaventure Development Plan to be happening over the next couple of years.
