City Council Update with Councillor Glenn Pollock Councillor Glenn Pollock has been a dedicated member of the Port Coquitlam City Council since his first election in 2008.

With a deep-rooted commitment to the community, he has actively participated in various initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents. Recent Initiatives and Focus Areas: Affordable Housing: Councillor Pollock has been instrumental in addressing the housing crisis in Port Coquitlam.

He has contributed to bringing nearly 500 units of affordable housing to the city, including 83 units in the new Atira development. His efforts also include supporting the establishment of a rent bank in collaboration with SHARE Family and Community Services and advocating for policies to protect renters from 'renovictions.' Community Services: Demonstrating a passion for community welfare, Councillor Pollock played a pivotal role in launching the People's Pantry Food Recovery Society.

This initiative provides fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy products to approximately 180 individuals in need. Infrastructure and Development: Under his tenure, the city has seen significant projects come to fruition, such as the completion of the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, which was delivered on time and within budget despite global challenges.

Councillor Pollock also supports ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown core, improve traffic and pedestrian safety, and develop a soccer hub in Gates Park. Environmental Initiatives: Recognizing the importance of sustainability, he has been involved in advancing the city's climate action plan, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship. ​

Community Engagement and Background: Beyond his council duties, Councillor Pollock has a rich history of community involvement. He has been a long-time coach for the Poco Saints Lacrosse team and continues to advocate for local sports. Professionally, he serves as a constituency assistant to Port Coquitlam MLA Mike Farnworth, bringing a wealth of experience to his role in public service.
